Angeles鈥檚 winning epic poem 鈥淏untot Kang Gumuguhit sa Lawas na Dalubtalain鈥� narrates the Filipino people鈥檚 process of naming鈥攆rom our concept of ny谩wa to our nom de guerre. One stanza interrogates:
Kailan niya unang sasambitin
Ang b谩yan/b谩nwa/铆li?
Kailan niya maaalala
Ang una niyang pagsikad
Sa pagkakatali sa matris?
Dala niya ang bigat ng inunan

Angeles was conferred with the title Makata ng Taon in 2016. He also bagged 2nd place in 2014. He is the founder and Director of the first Caloocan Writers Workshop, which he organized with the Caloocan Historical and Cultural Studies Association.
