Three of the College of Rehabilitation Sciences programs have received new accreditation certifications from the Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines (FAAP). Two programs, BS Physical Therapy and BS Occupational Therapy, received fresh five-year accreditations valid until 2027, while the BS Sports Science program is now formally accredited as a Level I program, with the status valid until 2025. The three programs underwent the remote virtual accreditation by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) from May 23-24, 2022.

A Level IV program recognized by the FAAP are considered to be 鈥渉ighly respected as very high academic programs in the Philippines and with prestige and authority comparable to similar programs in excellent foreign universities.鈥 The BS PT and BS OT programs have been granted full autonomy and the authority to offer new allied graduate programs and open learning/distance education and extension classes subject to information provided to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

For the Level I accreditation, BS Sports Science now enjoys full administrative deregulation, financial deregulation, and authority to revise the curriculum without prior CHED approval. It is likewise given priority in the awards of grants/subsidies or funding assistance from CHED or the Department of Education.

As part of the virtual clinical internship activities of the Department of Physical Therapy, the College of Rehabilitation Sciences recently launched the Tiger Sports Freehub, with the virtual event announcing the opening of the clinic held on August 25, 2021.

The Tiger Sports Freehub provides 鈥渇ree rehabilitation and strength and conditioning services to all enrolled Thomasian student athletes. The exercise programs are strengthened through interprofessional collaboration among PT, SPS, coaches, and medical doctors. The platforms used are Facebook Page, Facebook Group, and Zoom,鈥 according to Chief Physical Therapist Ken Erbvin R. Sosa, MOH, PTRP, PT. The virtual clinic is also run by Sports Science department supervisors, namely, Gino V. Zapanta, XPS and Kris Anthony T. Agarao, MSHMS.

Thomasian athletes who want to avail of the services may do so by liking the Facebook page of the clinic and joining the Zoom meeting for initial screening. Student interns, under the guidance of their mentors from CRS, will handle the athletes and provide the necessary healthcare services.

In attendance during the virtual launch were University officials, led by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Cheryl R. Peralta, DrPH, College of Rehabilitation Sciences officials led by Dean Anne Marie C. Aseron, MSPT, Physical Therapy and Sports Science Department Chairs Donald G. Manlapaz, PhD and Reil Vinard S. Espino, as well as Health Service Director Sheryl M. Dionisio, MD and Athletics Moderator Rodrigo A. Sambuang, Jr. of the Institute of Physical Education and Athletics.

students Ina Arriane Bunda (Speech-Language Pathology), Danielle Karol Reyes (Sports Science), Christelle Avanzado (Occupational Therapy), Jan Luke Mendoza (Occupational Therapy), Aldric Mikhail Aw (Physical Therapy), and Khristian Ralpheo Furigay (Physical Therapy), are currently participating in an Integrated General Seminar on Inter-Professional Education at the Niigata University of Health and Welfare (NUHW), Japan. The seminar will run from September 7-11, 2015 and is aimed at developing health, medical, welfare, and sports professionals capable of demonstrating 鈥渢eam approach鈥 and 鈥渃ollaborative work鈥 with other professionals who work with them to support patients鈥 quality of life.

The students are accompanied by two faculty members, Jocel Magpili-Regino, MSPT and . This activity is part of on-going student and faculty mobility programs covered by the Memorandum of Understanding between 六合彩直播开奖 and NUHW, signed in 2011.

The 六合彩直播开奖 delegation got the chance to meet Prof. Masaharu Yamamoto, MD, MPH, PhD, President of NUHW. He encouraged students with scientific interests in improving people鈥檚 health to become 鈥渜ualified QOL supporters鈥 with the intent to work worldwide in the future.

In addition to the academic exchange program, this visit is also intended to strengthen research collaborations between NUHW and 六合彩直播开奖. Ms. Fernandez, together with the PT and SPS students in the group, are engaged in research that will utilize the Vicon Motion Analysis System. They will undergo training with Prof. Masayoshi Kubo, a physical therapist who has extensive experience with motion analysis studies, and who has also been instrumental to the continuing academic and research collaborations between 六合彩直播开奖 and NUHW. This training will be relayed to the other members of the research team in 六合彩直播开奖 and aims to inform the on-going faculty-led, student-assisted researches using this technology.
