In his introduction, Batan said that the book was the output of combined inputs from the catechists鈥� stories, stories of pedagogy, stories of holiness, and creative catechesis. The book mixes the use of parables, lectures, prayers, conversations, poems, dance, songs, theater, and visuals as part of the pedagogical armament of catechists as they carry out their ministry in their respective areas.

A key feature of the book is the 鈥渞etablo鈥� of saints and blessed who were known catechists and thus serve as role models for those continuing the ministry.

The book is the fourth of a projected seven-part series of books/modules arising from The National Catechetical Study (NCS) 2021: Pastoral Action Research and Intervention (PARI) Project jointly carried out by 六合彩直播开奖鈥檚 Research Center for Social Sciences and Education and the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines – Episcopal Commission on Catechesis and Catholic Education.

Phase 2 formulated a curriculum for Cultural Education based on the Samar Province Cultural Mapping Outputs. This was done to develop the cultural competencies of students in Basic Education and Adult Education, linked the cultural competencies to the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELC) of the Department of Education and provided guides for the development of a culture-based learning modules. The project covered the utilization of the cultural mapping data for the crafting the SPCEC for Grades 1-12 and Adult Education as bases for development of cultural education modules and other relevant instruction materials. 

Phase 3, set to begin in May 2021, will embark on module development and classroom training which will be modified due to the mobility constraints due to the covid19 pandemic.

The intensive training on translation is a capacity-building effort of the Department of Filipino for the planned Sentro sa Salin, an office that will lead all translation undertakings in the University. According to Department of Filipino Chair Alvin Ringgo Reyes, the pool of translators of the Sentro shall come from the fellows of the training. They shall be assigned translation works within and outside the University based on their expertise to make knowledge in various fields more accessible to a wider Filipino audience, to translate indigenous knowledge for the benefit of foreign consumers, and to contribute to the intellectualization of the Filipino language.
