六合彩直播开奖 faculty researcher presented his paper on 鈥楲ocalizing Zero Waste: Mapping the Institutionalization of Solid Waste Management in the City of San Fernando鈥 at the first Local Development Academy held recently at the University of Umea located at the northern part of Sweden.聽Castillo, a research associate at the 六合彩直播开奖 , also attended the Policy Proposal Making and Participatory Video Making Workshops.

The Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD) held its first Local Development Academy at the University of Umea in its efforts to promote knowledge sharing and the advocacy for local development and democracy, the Swedish Centre awarded full funding to 45 participants around the globe.  

The academy鈥檚 purpose is for the participants to share their own expertise and research studies while joining workshops where they can learn innovations on participatory engagement and local development issues.  The academy also served as a venue promoting inter-municipal linkages.  

At the RCSSED, Castillo is a member of a research team headed by The team is funded by the Global Alliance for Incineration Alternatives (GAIA) researching on the Social and Economic Benefits of Zero Waste Practices.聽 The team is composed of , Assoc. Prof. Maria Rosario Garcia, Ph.D., and Assoc. Prof. Moises Norman Garcia, Ph.D. Castillo serves as political network analyst and local government liaison to the team. His paper on localizing zero waste is a subsequent finding from participating in the field work.

, Political Science faculty at ACAS International Conference Faculty of Arts and Letters Chair Assoc. Prof. Lino Baron, Ph.D., together with Asian Studies faculty member Mr. Jan Michael Denila, and faculty member attended the 9th National Conference on Asian Studies held at Leong Hall, Ateneo de
Manila University on August 24, 2018.

The conference theme was 鈥淪ocial Justice, Diversity and Development鈥 with paper presenters from the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore and Australia.
Since the three faculty members handle professional courses in Asian Studies and Political Science, attending the conference sessions was part of their continuing development program. Baron handles ASEAN, Denila handles International Relations, and Castillo teaches migration.

Sociology, History mentors at int鈥檒 confab on PH, Asian Studies

In a related development, three faculty members from the Faculty of Arts and Letters, , of the , and Asst. Prof. Analiza Yanga, both of the , presented their papers at the Second International Conference on Philippine and Asian Studies at the Visayas State University, Baybay City, Leyte.

He also discussed the role of students in helping the University extend its services to its partner community.

Francisco.鈥 She discussed the important historiographies Hegelian, PostColonial and Orientalism that are manifested in the historical work of the great National Artist for Painting. Framed in the Hermeneutics of Friedrich Schleiermacher, Turingan illustrated how Botong was able to provide his interpretation of what is written in history with precision and accuracy.

She presented 15 paintings of Botong which she divided into three main
categories, namely: Religious-Historical, Cultural-Historical and Political-Historical.

Meanwhile, Yanga, who served as moderator in one of the parallel
sessions, delivered a paper about the families of drug addicts in Healing
Path Rehabilitation Center in Quezon City, Manila.

The other faculty members from Arts and Letters who also
attended the conference were Prof. Felicidad-Galang Pere帽a, Ph.D.,
Assoc. Prof. Luz Urquiola, Ph.D., Prof. Robert Ampil, Ph.D., and Asst.
Prof. Mae Sevilla.

The conference was sponsored by De La Salle University College
of Liberal Arts and DLSU University Research Coordinating Office in
coordination with Visayas State University, Baybay Campus in Leyte.

The Asian Research Institute of the National University of Singapore held a conference on (Re) conceptualizing Asian Civil Society in the Age of Post-Politics on August 16 and 17, 2018.

, and , both members of the , and Research Associates of the , presented their internationally funded research on zero waste practices. The research was a part of larger project on social and economic benefits of zero waste.

At the 11th Asia Political and International Studies Association (APISA) Conference, held in Naresuan University, Phitsanulok, Thailand from October 20 to 21, 2017, Political Science students Angelo Pascual, Karl Cabarles, Drixel Mariano, Lexanne Garcia, Isaiah Reotutar and Karen
Marasigan presented papers on: Government Infrastructures and Human Population in Manila, Online Civic Action on the Burial of the Late President Marcos and NGO Activities to Protect the Environment in Coron, Palawan,
respectively.

Meanwhile, , a faculty member, participated in the panel discussion on Political Institutions. The APISA Conference served as forum where academics and professionals in the area of Political Science gather to discuss issues not only on politics and but also on allied fields in the social sciences and humanities. The congress also served as venue for interaction among academics and scholars from different universities in the world.


2017 Salinan International Conference, Philippines

Prof. Elenita Mendoza and Ms. Kristine May D. Martinez, presented papers during the 2017 Salinan International Conference held from September 28 to 30, 2017 at the Ateneo de Manila University.

The three-day global conference was organized by the Filipinas Institute of Translation (FIT) in collaboration with the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) and National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). Translation experts and educations from different countries including the Philippines were invited as guest speakers.


Speakers were Dr. Lawrence Venuti (Temple University), Dr. Luise Von
Flotow (University of Ottawa) and Dr. Virgilio S. Almario (Commission on the Filipino Language) (CFL) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).

Malay World Conference, Philippines

Asst. Prof. Janet Atutubo presented a paper on the 鈥淪truggles for Independence of the Filipinos and Malays: A Common People鈥檚 Perspective鈥 at the Malay World Conference at the Manila Hotel and De la Salle University Manila held from September 14 to 16, 2017.

Topics discussed during the Conference were: Archeology, History, Sociology and Philosophy of South East Asia. The conference was well attended by faculty members of various universities in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darusalam, China, America and Indonesia. Asst. Prof. Myrna De Vera was also a participant.

Residential Workshop in Philosophy for Children, USA

Asst. Prof. Marella Ada V. Mancenido Bola帽os, Ph.D., of the Department of Philosophy, was one of the 20 participants of the annual Residential Workshop in Philosophy for Children held at the St. Marguerite鈥檚 Retreat House, Mendham, New Jersey, USA. Organized by The Institute for the Advancement of Philosophy for Children the workshop was facilitated by leading scholars in Philosophy for Children, namely, Maughn Gregory, David Kennedy,

Megan Laverty and Ariel Sykes. All four facilitators were trained by Matthew Lipman and Ann Margaret Sharp who are founders of Philosophy for Children.

The week-long workshop discussed topics such as the philosophical and historical foundations of Philosophy for Children, hermeneutics of P4C, Philosophy of Childhood, Aesthetics and P4C, to name a few. Participants were also given the opportunity to facilitate a community of inquiry using Matthew Lipman鈥檚 philosophical novels.

The community of inquiry is used as classroom pedagogy in various schools
worldwide, and as evidenced by research, this pedagogy has increased the students鈥 ability to think critically, creatively and caringly.
