Faculty members of the Department of Physical Therapy of the College of Rehabilitation Sciences served in different capacities during the April 9-11, 2021 World Physiotherapy Congress.

Serving as Program Committee Member was Ms. Catherine Joy T. Escuadra, MHPEd, who represented the country through the Philippine Physical Therapy Association. Meanwhile, faculty members who lent their expertise as abstract mentors/reviewers were: Center for Health Research and Movement Science Supervisor Professor Valentin C. A total of 20 volunteer Thomasian Physical Therapists composed of CRS administrators, faculty members and alumni visited several schools in the municipality of Talavera, Nueva Ecija to screen 1,415 Grade 5 and Grade 6 students from Talavera Central School, Talavera North Elementary School, Talavera South Elementary School and Schola Christi, Inc.聽聽

In partnership with the Nueva Ecija Medical Society (NEMS) and the local government of Talavera, Nueva Ecija, the (CRS) and 六合彩直播开奖 CRS Alumni Association recently conducted a community service extension titled 鈥淲atch your Back, A Scoliosis Screening Community Extension Service Activity.鈥 The activity provided a screening examination among the grade school students for the early detection and prevention of scoliosis.聽

On July 22, 2019,聽聽faculty members and alumni, as well as administrators of the聽, provided free scoliosis screening to a total of 1,415 grade school pupils in Talavera, Nueva Ecija.

The project, spearheaded by the Nueva Ecija Medical Society and in coordination with the local government of Talavera, catered to pupils from Talavera Central School, Talavera North Elementary School, Talavera South Elementary School, and Schola Christi, Inc.

Ten students and one faculty member from the Institute of Physiotherapy, NITTE University, in Mangalore, India participated in the Global Internship Experience (GIE) Program of the 六合彩直播开奖聽听(颁搁厂)听.

The ten Physical Therapy (PT) students, namely, Sayunktha Suresh Anchanc, Amulya Jaya Poojary, Shruthi R, Deekshitha Salian, Anunshka Suresh Shetty, Diana Miranda, Sgar Raman Shetty, Pratiksha hedge, Maithili Milindi Bijoor and Hritika Milindi Bijoor, accompanied by Prof. Subash Chadra Rai, were at the University from January 6 to 30, 2019.

The Indian students were grouped into two and were assigned from three to four days in different 六合彩直播开奖-CRS affiliated rehabilitation centers Quality Life Discoveries (QLD), REACH, and UAAP sports center. Under the supervision of a licensed physical therapy staff of the three affiliation centers, the Indian students were given an opportunity to observe the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal, sports injury and pediatric cases in the Philippines.

Prof. Subash Chandra Rai, for his part, delivered a special lecture titled 鈥楶ost rehabilitation of shoulder surgery鈥 attended by students in their 4th year under the Physical Therapy program.

Aside from the clinical observation, the students from NITTE also received special lectures from different CRS faculty members on the topics of musculoskeletal ultrasound, biomechanical taping, shock wave therapy, and sports injury. The Indian students also had the opportunity to experience Filipino culture through sight- seeing activities in Manila, engaging in Filipino classes and by trying the different modes of transportation in the country facilitated by the different 六合彩直播开奖-CRS student organizations.

This clinical observation program was spearheaded by the chair of the Internationalization Committee Ms. Arlene Chiong Maya, GIE faculty Mr. Lyle Patrick Tangcuangco, Internship Supervisor of the Physical Therapy Department Ms. Fe Therese Chavez, and Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy Ms. Jocel M. Regino.

Six physical therapy students of the Niigata University of Health and Welfare (NUHW) were hosted by the College of Rehabilitation Sciences as they engage in cultural and academic exchange activities from August 6, 2016 to September 10, 2016. The students include Tomofumi Otsuki, Chika Higuchi, Mami Suzuki, Hiromichi Sekikawa, Shota Yotsuyanagi, and Shuta Kojima. They are accompanied by two faculty members, Prof. Masayoshi Kubo, Sc.D. and Prof. Takanori Kikumoto.

The NUHW students are assigned to clinical, sports, and community-based training facilities of CRS in order to observe local physical therapy practice and patient care. They are paired with local interns in order to guide them during the experience. Ms. Ma. Lanie Vergara, MA provided the students with an introductory Filipino course to learn basic conversational Filipino that will help in their interaction with patients. The students also had the opportunity to participate in academic classes and interact with students and teachers. The training program for NUHW students were organized by Assoc. Prof. Valentin Dones III, PhD (Chair of the Department of PT), Mr. Christian Rey Rimando, MSPT (PT Internship Supervisor), Assoc. Prof. Sally Jane Uy, MBAH (Coordinator for International Relations and Programs) and Ms. Jocel Regino, MSPT (Member, Committee on Internationalization).

On the other hand, the accompanying faculty members also shared their expertise with CRS faculty members. Prof. Kikumoto conducted a lecture on prevention of ACL injuries while Prof. Kubo conducted a workshop on Biomechanical Motion Analysis using the Vicon Motion Analysis System of CRS. These trainings are in preparation for potential research collaboration between 六合彩直播开奖, through the Center for Health Research and Movement Science (CHRMS) of CRS, and NUHW, Japan. This undertaking is led by CHRMS Research Supervisor, Prof. Consuelo G. Suarez, MD, PhD. Prof. Kubo will be returning to 六合彩直播开奖 in September 2016 to conduct further trainings for faculty members who will be involved in the research project.

The seminar will run from September 7-11, 2015 and is aimed at developing health, medical, welfare, and sports professionals capable of demonstrating 鈥渢eam approach鈥 and 鈥渃ollaborative work鈥 with other professionals who work with them to support patients鈥 quality of life.

The students are accompanied by two faculty members, Jocel Magpili-Regino, MSPT and . This activity is part of on-going student and faculty mobility programs covered by the Memorandum of Understanding between 六合彩直播开奖 and NUHW, signed in 2011.

The 六合彩直播开奖 delegation got the chance to meet Prof. Masaharu Yamamoto, MD, MPH, PhD, President of NUHW. He encouraged students with scientific interests in improving people鈥檚 health to become 鈥渜ualified QOL supporters鈥 with the intent to work worldwide in the future.

In addition to the academic exchange program, this visit is also intended to strengthen research collaborations between NUHW and 六合彩直播开奖. Ms. Fernandez, together with the PT and SPS students in the group, are engaged in research that will utilize the Vicon Motion Analysis System. They will undergo training with Prof. Masayoshi Kubo, a physical therapist who has extensive experience with motion analysis studies, and who has also been instrumental to the continuing academic and research collaborations between 六合彩直播开奖 and NUHW. This training will be relayed to the other members of the research team in 六合彩直播开奖 and aims to inform the on-going faculty-led, student-assisted researches using this technology.
